Hi all,
I have trouble to set up the microphone on my HP Elitepad 900 after Windows 10 upgrade. The built-in speaker is ok, but only some noise is recorded. I can also hear this noise if I enable the "use this device for playback" option for the microphone in Sound settings.
I see that many users have reported similar issue in the past, so I could try a lot of solutions I could find on the net (all about uninstalling/reinstalling/upgrading drivers), bot nothing helps. The only thing I could not try was to activate the "multi stream" option in the Realtek Audio Manager because I didn't manage to download this software as standalone product, seems that it is only supplied with the drivers. The appropriate Realtek driver package only contains the SRS Audio GUI which does not offer this option. But maybe it is not the reason.
I use the latest Win10 build which is 1511. All Windows updates have been installed. The newest BIOS/Firmware package from the HP website has been installed, too.
The device is Intel Z2760 based, and there are two entries in Audio Controllers:
"Intel SST Audio Device (WDM)" - driver version 6.2.9200.34712
"Realtek I2S Audio Codec" - driver version 6.2.9400.3077
Windows claims that these drivers are up to date.
Under "Audio Input & Output" there is a device for the speaker and another one for the microphone, version 10.0.10586.0 - which is also claimed to be up to date.
There are no errors or warnings about all these devices, no exclamation marks and there is no system trouble with the driver itself.
In the Sound section of Control Panel there is only one device for the microphone which is marked as standard and active, and no hidden inactive audio devices. The "applications have exclusive control" in their configuration is off.
The Windows troubleshooter does not recognize any problem.
So there are no system conflicts, problems or misconfigurations, but the mic does not work.
If you own an Elitepad 900 or are from HP Support: please help!
