No sound on Compaq CQ58

I have a Compaq CQ58, with Windows 8.1 installed.

Product number: D1L62EA#UUW.

I am having problems with the sound disappearing.

It started a few days ago and after looking at some of the forum suggestions I managed by good luck to get the sound back, though I am not sure exactly what I did to succeed, but it seems that as soon as I turn the PC off then I have no sound again.

The system is telling me that the speakers are working and I can see when I open the Volume mixer that there is sound on the unit.

Best regards

Problem with sound card

I received an error message on Spotify stating that there is a problem with my sound card.  Then upon further inspection I found that any audio wasn't playing.  I looked over the sound software on my laptop and they say that they are both working properly.  So I don't know why I'm not getting any sound.  Any help would be amazing, thank you.

hi,

i'm the owner of a sleekbook HP Pavilion 15-b040sl. The OS is Windows 8.

A few days ago i found a problem about the sound: the speaker didn't emit sound; all video or mp3 starts without sound.

I decided to disinstall the driver of the sound. There were 3 driver; I found just 1, the others generated error during the installation.

I miss two driver, i can't find them:

- IDT HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CODEC

- NVIDIA VIRTUAL AUDIO DEVICE (WAVE EXTENSIBLE)  (WDM)

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

Help!

When I start up my speakers and earphones do both not work.

If I restart it will work for a while and then suddenly the sound is gone again.

So no sound through the speakers and no sound through the audio entrance for external earphones.

Who can help?

My sound just randomly started messing up. In order to hear anything I have to turn it to volume 70. I used to be able to hear everything at volume 8. It also does not sound like the sound is travling forward if that makes sense.

Hello,

I'm hoping you can help. My laptop received an hp update recently and afterwards I have no sound.

My laptop is a Compaq CQ58-331SA, product no. DOX18EA#ABU, serial no. 5CB3151T62 and I'm running it on Windows 8.1

The curious thing is that after the update I got some messages saying it was 'flashing' and then when it restarted it said it was 'flashing boot block'. Not sure if this has anything to do with it. My default device (which I haven't changed is a digital audio s/pdif.

Thanks for any help.

hp pavillion 17 audio connector pinout

The subject HP notebook has apparently incorporates a TRRS connector for audio; combining L&R audio out and microphone in.  What is not specified in the user manual is the pinout of this connector.  There are two known versions of this 4-pin connector:

Version 1: Tip-Left, Ring1-Right, Ring2-Gnd, Sleeve-Mic.

Version 2: Tip-Left, Ring1-Right, Ring2-Mic, Sleeve-Gnd.

Can someone tell me which one of these pinouts the HP Pavillion 17 Product E8B94UA#ABA uses?

I've even attempted to use external speakers by using the port for the hjeadphones and that has also been unsuccessful. I have restarted the computer numerous times as well. Hello all,

                                          HP Pavilion G6 g6-2320TX

                                          OS- Windows 8 Pro

PROBLEM- Audio not working(Sound not working and gets solved sometimes                                                                    when restarted and same problem repeates)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am using the Laptop mentioned with above configuration. I had few problem with my laprop like running slow and and others. To solve this issue, I have restored my system nearly 3 times in 10 days. However, it worked well and my laptop is working faster but, there comes a problem with audio. Although the icon of the toolbar (where the time and date is viewed) of speaker is fine with proper indication and all the setting are fine, thus problem persistes where I cannot hear audio including videos on laptop and even on internet and any audio sound. This problem gets solved some times when I restart the system but again issue starts when again switched ON. I issue might not be due to hardware. Please provide me a solution and since this it the first time I am launching a complaint, I do not know where to check the reply given by ou so, if possible send me a email.

                               Awaiting for your reply.

With regards,

Giri

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow thisand then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.

Start the notebook and let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

I recently upgraded my HP G60-519WM notebook computer to Windows 8.1 from Windows 7.  Prior to the upgrade, the sound worked fine.  Now, I don't have any sound.  I've tried locating newer drivers, but no luck.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would have happened and how to fix this?

Thank you.

Good evening everyone,  I recently acquired this HP laptop, and I've been wanting to play around with HP connected music.  I have a google play subscription though, I don't want to deal with multiple stuff, especially since google play music is (imho) way better then a lot of other ones out there.  Has anyone seen, or heard of a way to use the subscription with HP Connect?

This computer is the absolute worst I have EVER owned. It us like going back to the dark ages. In my opinion there should be a class action suit against HP for even putting this in the market place as a viable working computer. The problems are too many to count. Has paralyzed my ability to do business. The screens flip around, the mouse is glitchy, the programs don't respond properly with the touch pad. Horrible.
