Alright, I have one of those brand new HP Envy dv6t's and am running Windows 8 64 bit with media center. I haven't made any changes at all before I noticed this issue. The only thing that really happened was that my computer randomly blue-screened, unable to startup again giving me an 0xC000021A error. After using an image of my hard drive, I was able to restore my computer to a couple weeks ago before this happened. This was a month ago. Now, the real problem here is that my comptuer's speakers work fine. The microphone though has no where to be found- it doesn't work, no programs recognize it. And to top it off, the sounds settings (control pannel > sounds) does not recognize either the microphone or speakers. It's not listed, I already checked the box to show disconnected and disabled devices, and still nothing.
It looks like this http://imgur.com/bSCozL3
so I cannot enable the microphone, configure or anything because nothing is there. Same with the speakers, except the speakers work fine. I tried downloading the sound driver on HP's website, and the problem persists. I really don't want to have to restore my computer again. Any ideas?
