Hey. I am writing regarding my unresolved issue at http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio-e-g-Windows-8/HP-Pavilion-G6-NO-SOUND/m-p/2898889/highlight/false#M40005 .
Basically, my headphone port is broken, and the switch inside thinks that headphones are constantly connected. This, in turn, stops my onboard speaker from functioning. No settings I change in Sound in the Control Panel make any difference, however I know that the speaker does infact work. It is just the port that is broken. I am running Windows 8, and wondered if there was a registry edit I could make that would lead the system to believe that the headphone/phono port didnt exist, so I could then use the onboard speaker again.
Many thanks in advance,
Chris
