I have a problem that has been posted here a couple of times already but none of the proposed solutions seem to fix it for me.
I have a HP Pavilion dm1-4300ec with Windows 8 64bit.
Everytime a sound is played, theres a cracking/lag noise accompanying it. I've tried various drivers including the one intended for the model series - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-112527-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=5328049&sw_lang= . I've also tried disabling and uninstalling the other sound driver that was installed alongside IDT High-Definition Audio Driver, as several posts have proposed, nothing seems to help.
I've also tried here
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio-e-g-Windows-8/Windows-8-IDT-Beats-Audio-Voice-Cracks-on-HP-Pavilion-m6/m-p/2160909/highlight/true#M30897
which led to downloading this driver: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp57501-58000/sp57966.exe . I installed it but the problem persists. Any other ideas?
Oh, btw, I have a Xubuntu linux 13.04 installation on another partition and the sound didn't work at all at first, but after grabbing some updates, it works just fine, so it's not a hardware issue for sure.
Thanks
