Hearing from both speaker and headphones on HP pavilion

Hi,

I have a HP pavilion 15 notebook PC, product number F4U23EA#ABV. My operating system is windows 8, 64Bit.

I have recently bought my laptop and when I tried listening music on it using my headphones I noticed that it plays from both headphones and the speakers. When I checked the playback devices, the only device listed there were the speakers.

My audio driver is Realtek High definition audio, and the driver date is 11/27/2012. I tried updating it, and even reinstalling it but to no avail. I also tried Microsoft's audio fixit but the problem still persists.

Please help.
