HP G42-230US Notebook PC mutting itself

i have a HP G42-230US Notebook PC and for some reason my laptop keeps muting and unmuting its self its very annoying and when i press the esc key it acts as the button to unmute it and mute it white the correct key doesnt work 

plese someone help me !!
