My laptop is set to automatically install updates. When it automatically installed an update this week I lost my sound. I checked everything and ran the troubleshooter and all appears to be fine. Yet, still no sound. I did do a recovery that took 4 hours and deleted my virus protection. Got that back on and the sound was fine. Now this morning it did another update and again no sound. There's got to be an easier way. What can I do to fix this problem.

I have an HP Pavillion zv6000 and my audio isn't working and i enter in the device manager and shows this error: "This device cannot start. Code 10" After this i installed my audio driver from the site and still same problem.

beats audio died
All sound on my HP Envy d7-7333cl died suddenly. No PC sound, No Beats audio, No Headphones, No HDMI output to TV, No Beats Audio Icon on taskbar, No Volumn Icon on taskbar. It has disappeared like it wasn't ever there.

Cannot set my headphones as default playback device.
I own the Pavillion g6 and ever since I've gotten it, I've had audio driver problems. This is a recent one. I'm not able to set my Communication Headphones as the default device. When I try to do so, It does nothing. Nothing at all. The reason I want to is because I want audio to go through my headphones only, but if I disable speakers and headphones, volume mixer glitches out and says "No audio device is installed" I've also had other problen too, my microphone does not work correctly but the headphones do. This is annoying me so much, please help. I've already tried uninstalling / reinstalling by the way.

ENVY DV7 sound stopped working! If i reset it comes back on for a little bit.
Computer is a year old. Windows 8. If i reset the computer the sound will come on for as long as im using it, but the second i walk away and come back its off and not working. HELP!

15-g012dx Notebook PC audio problem
My audio won't work so I tried to troubleshoot it. The troubleshooter says that there "might be a problem with my audio device" and that "hardware changes might not have been detected". I haven't tried to attach any different speakers or download new drivers. I've only had this computer for about two weeks. This is the second time this has happened and it's completely from out of the blue. The computer says the audio is muted but I can't turn it up using either the keyboard or clicking the volume control on the taskbar. Any suggestions for fixing this?

trying to skype with people and also configure mic settings on the control panel.. no luck.
this has a " integrated dual array digital microphone " built in but i cant make it work for the life of me...

No sound after opening any online site like Facebook etc.
When connecting to any online sites like Facebook , sound is not coming but picture is clear in Videos. The following prompt appears when testing sound while online: This device is using another application. Please close any other devises that are playing audio to this application and try again". But there aren't any other devices in this PC, using the sound. Installed IDT High Definition Audio CODEC recently. There aren't any chat programs like Skype that I use which starts automatically when turn on the machine.

unable to communicate
I have a HP ENVY dv6 Notebook PC which for some reason even though it recognizes I have something plugged in still does not work audio. It worked for a moment just fine and then cut out and I cannot find a reason for it. Can someone tell me how to figure out why the this is happening and how I might go about fixing it. I do not think it is the plug because if it were I do not think it would register something is plugged in..

No Audio, but comes and goes
All of a sudden spotify wouldn't play, and mentioned that there was a problem with the sound card.
the sound card says its working fine in the device manager,
Originally there would be no sound at all, and the mute button would not 'do anything' as in the volume would stay at the same level and not respond to the mute.
the sound is now coming and going,
not sure what to do, have re-downloaded the driver. but the sound is predominately not there

when i open google chrome browser, volume goes off after some time.
if media player is already open and is playing some thing it goes to 'pause' mode.

Hp Pavilion dv7 won't play audio through HDMI
Hi i recently noticed my Pavilion dv7 entertainment notebook won't play sound through the tv anymore. The picture is on the tv but sound is running through the laptop speakers? I never had a problem with this until now. When i open up the sound options, the ATI HDMI output says it's not connected and so it wont let me select it, but it is connected? Please help?

Recording Stereo mix and a microphone.
To start, I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6145dx Notebook PC, model QE068UA.
I'm trying to record audio from my stereo mix and audio from my Turtle Beach x31 headset in Audacity. But, whenever I plug my headset in, my stereo mix becomes "currently unavailable". I can mess with settings and make the stereo mix available while the headset is plugged in, but then the mic becomes "currently unavailable" Before I used the headset, I used a USB microphone, which I could get to work with stereo mix if I used Virtual Audio Cable audio repeaters but I can't do this with the headset. I've come to the conclusion that my sound card cant record two audio inputs, but that doesn't make sense since I could do it with the USB microphone. Also the game recording program FRAPS can record my headset and my Win7 audio, which must mean its possible to record the two outside of FRAPS. I just want to know if there are any workarounds or 3rd party programs I can get to make it possible to record my Headset and Stereo mix at the same time.
