No headphones! It's as if my laptop doesnt even have a headphone jack! Headphones dont show up as an option on the sound mixer, or on the audio devices. Only speakers and microphone.
I have tried:
1. system updates
2. audio updates
3. different headphones
4. disable/enable device (audio)
5. re-install audio system
still NO headphones..
OK, I posted awhile back here about compressed/distorted sound on HP Envy laptop. I tried a few things with no luck. I figured it must be defective, so I exchanged it for the same model.
Got the new computer and.. are you kidding me?! Apparently they all sound like this. This "feature" is seemingly a poor attempt at "normalization", where loud parts are made softer and soft parts are louder.
The implementation is so poor that it sounds like someone is on the volume knob turning it up and down constantly every few seconds. Or like a distant AM station at night fading in and out. It's ridiculous and incredibly annoying.
The very worst part of this? There's no way to turn it off! There should be a software option for "Audio Normalization / Compression" you can simply uncheck. No such luck. There are a few threads here about messing with audio drivers to get rid of it. I'll have to try them.
I'm flabbergasted that these units are being sold like this. The rest of the laptop seems great, but this makes it nearly unusable. It's amazing to me that someone thinks this sounds good.
When I fully plug in my earphones to the laptops audio out port then the earphones is not detected. But, when I plugin the earphones halfway through then the laptop detects the earphones. Even when the laptop detects the earphones, the audio comes out of only one ear piece. After some fine adjustments on the halfway plugged earphone jack I am able to listen on both the ear piece but when I ran a stereo test, audio seems to come out of both the ear piece when it should have come from only one side. I have no issues with my earphone and they are working fine.
Is this a problem with the audio drives or the audio jack on my laptop? If the audio jack is faulty how much would it cost to replace those?
Thank you for your time.
a distorted sound in speakers while playing video online or offline, but while i play audio alone problem is vanished.
I have a HP Pavillion G6 with Windows 7 (64-bit).
The issue came randomly one day a couple of months ago, I turned on my laptop and there was no sound. I tried headphones, no sound. When I tried hooking up my laptop to my tv with a hdmi cord, it did work. I've tried re-downloading, uninstallling, updating, rolling back every driver I could find for my audio. I even restored my computer to factory settings. I am really out of ideas here, please help!
for some reason my built in microphone isnt working although the webcam is working fine. i cant seem to find any way to turn it on or to get it working again. iit used to work fine, but i think something might have been turned off disabled or deleted, and it is driving me crazy. any help will be appreciated!
I work for a small I.T. company and we have a dozen of more HP Stream's that we support for several client's who needed a cheap notebook. One of them, the one my Boss was using has a very concerning problem. When the speakers are on, the front edge of the notebook where the speakers are get so hot it actually gave me a nasty burn on my two arms. I have seen things get hot many times before, but never anything this hot! I know it is the speakers, because when I disable to speakers the heat goes away soon after, and comes right back when you enable it. The Warrenty expired back in March and I really am not concerned about getting a refund or replacement. What I am concerned about is it get's hot enough to catch on fire and we have these stream's all over the place. I am hoping it's just isolated to just this one notebook. I would like to send it in for HP to look at. Since the warrenty is expired I have limited support options. I really don't feel like paying for a tech support call when I am only trying to help out HP with a potential issue.
Hello. First, thank you for taking the time to read this message. I'll try and add all the valuable information I can. However, if you need further information to help solve the issue, please let me know. So a few weeks ago I notice that my audio was heavily distorted (like you know that sound your laptop makes when you bump it, that sound). I downloaded Realtek audio HD driver, made sure it was up to date to help with the distortion. Well, then the volume became too low. I kept installing Realtek audio drivers from HP, removing all realtek devices (under Sound, Video, Game Controller in device manager), browsing for updates over the internet, etc but nothing work. Additionally, I've gone to Playback devices (under the volume icon in the task bar), selecting my speakers, going to properties, and selecting Enhancements, and selecting "Loudness Equalizer". So far that has helped a little bit. My volume now is at 100% and it sounds like it did when it was 20% (when there were no issues).
Unfortunately, I don't know how long this problem has persisted and I don't think there's a restore point before that time to try and reverse the effects. Is there any way that I can find the original driver that came with this notebook? Currently, I went to device manager>Sound, Video,Game Controller, Realtek HD Audio, update> Browse> Let me pick>choosing the earliest driver.
Any advice would be really welcome
Hai i plug in my head phones and it comes through the headphones BUT it also come out through speakers and i tried setting the default and going into control panel. It still wont work can someone please help me with my problem? Please reply back as soon as possible if you are able to.
Hey, this is my first time on the forums, so i figured i could get help. I just downloaded the windows 10 Anniversary Update, The first thing that happened was my sound driver, my microphone, and my camera driver werent working properly. I did a hard reset on my computer and it fixed those issues for the most part. I have my microphone and my camera back. The sound plays now but that's where the problem lies. My volume won't go down. No matter what number I set my volume at, it still sounds like it's on 100 until i put it on 0, then everything mutes. The only thing that turns volume down is if im watching a video or in iTunes and i turn down the programs volume down. I have been through most of the sound options and I have done another reset. Not sure if this is a bug or a setting changed that I havent found. Any help is greatly appreciated.
My laptop relases a soft beeping noise at random.
The laptop runs just fine and has no issues.
all my system notifications are off.
all my programs are off.
all my system sounds are off.
This beeping is driving me nuts and i cant seem to find any source for it or why its happening.
There is nothing in particular that causes it, and its driving me insane.
Again i turned off all of the sounds and i cannot seem to find any programs that could be the source of this sound.
the only relief from it is when i mute the laptop. some days its quiter and others its almost constant for every minute.
if anyone has had this issue please let me know. i cant find anything and i bought this laptop just recently and i take good care of my electronics. it hasnt been dropped, or damaged in any way.

Error: No Audio Output Device is installed.

Searched Online for software, with the message: Windows was unable to install your Intel High Definition Audio, could not find driver software for your device.
Ran Windows updates (34 important) did not resolve driver issue.
Can you please help me find a solution

The bass has dropped out of the audio frequency on my Pavillion. I think it may be something to do with the B&O software as its menu has also disappeared. Windows 10 came with the product so I don't think it was that update that has interfered.
I purchased a HP AU114tx Laptop this week, one of my buying point was b/o speakers.
But i am facing a major issue that whenever i play some song on any player online/offline the sound level sinks down to a certain level and stays there and sometimes goes to complete zero and then suddenly goes all way back to 100, and then again all that starts again.....
* I have all the latest drivers
*whenever i start a song it starts at full volume but within a second it goes down
* The volume slider doesnt move
* Whenever the laptop restarts volume level is at 67%
Please i want it fixed, this is acting as a spoiler, otherwise love the laptop
I've had this problem for a few weeks now and haven't been able to solve it. When I play audio from any source, the sound is distorted and fuzzy. Sometimes when I restart the laptop then the audio plays as normal for a while, until I pause a video or load a new page and then the problem starts again. However, even when this happens, the audio is still perfectly fine if I play it through headphones.
I have seen that there have been a few audio problems with notebooks and I've followed the recommended steps and installed the updated audio drivers but nothing has worked so far.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
