Speakers do not turn off when earphone is plugged in

$

My laptop speakers do not cut off when a earphone is plugged to the laptop (both speaker and earphone will play the sounds)

I've had this problem since Win 8.1, I've now upgraded to Windows 10 and its still the same. I've used Support assistant to upgrade the audio driver and it had installed the latest realtek audio driver but to no avail.

Several different earphones were used to test to no avail.

Also, I wish to highlight that it is not an amusing experience to fill in a "contact support form" listed here:

https://support.hp.com/sg-en/contact-hp/product/HP-14-r000-Notebook-PC-series/6874538/model/7234372

and not to have a corresponding submit button after filling up the form. Makes me wonder why I am filling up the form in the first place....

This laptop is under Warranty.

Hesh 2 cannot pair with HP Pavilion Entertainment PC

Hi Everyone!

I am trying to pair Hesh 2 headset via Bluetooth to my HP Pavilion Entertainment PC (product: WC161EA#ABH, model: dv7-3150ed, operating system: Windows 7) but Hesh 2 won't connect. It will be running in pairing mode and then just shutting off without making the connection.

Bluetooth Services on my notebook are set on Automatic and running... I can see the Hesh 2 in Devices and Printers, the driver is installed, everything seems to be ok but still no connection...

What am I forgetting? Please help!

Thank you very much in advance!

PS I have to say that the user guide coming with Hesh 2 has really poor and unclear instructions.

no sound through either of the headphone jacks

I have recently restored an HP DV7 3063cl laptop that died from an overheated motherboard (MB). I replaced the MB with a new board from HP when the price was reduced to about $100, upgraded the CPU with an advertised as new AMD 640M, and applied Arctic Silver on both the CPU and Graphics chips. I put in 4 G of fresh memory, got the computer to operate, and installed Windows 10.

There is no sound through either of the headphone jacks. When I insert the plug into the jack, the sound from the speakers usually stops. I have done the following several times without success:

    • uninstalled and re-installed the sound device in Device Manager

    • run the windows troubleshooter

    • verified that I have the latest driver

    • inserted different earphone into the jacks

    • made the headphones the default sound device

Any more suggestions, other than replacing the headphone jack assembly?

Repeated/Ongoing Headphone Jack Issue.

I have an HP Probook 450 G1.

I'm running Windows 7 (64 bit).

I have the latest audio drivers (Intel HD audio).

I usually use a headset with microphone, but suddenly it doesnt work. This is the second time this has happened, now 2 days in a row. The FIRST time audio would play out of my system, but not my headphones while plugged in. This time, while plugged in, audio does not play in my headphones, or from my system's speakers.

Last time repeatedly juggling the same options seemed to eventually work. But this time....it isn't.  Furthermore, no settings have changed. I do not know what is causing the problem, or what the solution is.

What SHOULD happen is that sound should play from my onboard speakers, and sound be recorded from the onboard microphone. When I plug in using 3.5 jack) headphones or microphone those devices should take over.

Sound from speakers and headphones at same time, uninstalled driver, now no sound and can't fix

I have a HP Pavilion g6, Win10.

Today the sound on my laptop started playing from the speakers and headphones at the same time.

A quick google tells me this is a known and stubborn problem for some HP users.

None of the advice worked for me so I tried the option of unisntalling and reinstalling the sound drivers.

Looking at the 'Sound' tab of the cotrol panel in Playback there was a device, IDT High Definition Audio, which said it wasn't working.

Looking at the control panel I had two options for which sound driver to uninstall- AMD HD Audio Device, or IDT High Definition Audio. Given the fact that IDT Audtio was apprently not working, I chose to unisntall that one. I unchecked the box saying to remove all drivers.  Apparently this was the wrong thing to do, but the instructions made no mention of this.

I then searched for and downloaded the IDT High Def Audio driver, restarted my computer and...

No sound, and no way of reinstalling the driver. In device manager if I scan for hardware changes it comes up with nothing. If I try all the options to reinstall the sound driver, and even specify the folder where I downloaded the IDT High Def driver, it tells me my sound driver is already up to date.

In the Sound tab of the Control Panal, in Playback, I now only have one thing - "Digital Display Audio" - and that's with it showing disabled devices too.

Help!

Thanks.

Multiple issues 1. Power switch doesn't work 2. Touch Pad not working 3. External volume zero

Hello,

My laptop is HP Pavillion DV6875se with Windows 7 OS. It was working great before a month, but all of a sudden the following issues came up

1. The power button of the laptop doesn't turn on/off the laptop. I have to use a detachable remote to turn the laptop on. I don't see blue light on the power key, once the remote turns the laptop on.

2. The quick play touch sensative keys above the laptop key board have blue light in most of them. But its flickering red for volume, and no indicator on the volume increase decrease touch region. Though some have blue indicator, red lights....none of the touch sensative keys function at present.

3. The laptop touch pad is unresponsive. It has its blue light, which doesn't turn red even if the touch pad is locked. I use a USB mouse as of now.

4. Laptop has 3 audio jacks. One for microphone, and 2 for headphone. The external speaker doesnt have any sound, so i have to plug in earphone everytime to listen anything. In control panel --> under sound --> playback ---> i see speakers and realtek digital output ---> both show green oscillating bars when an audio is played. But the volume key in quick play tab is flickering red all the time.

The laptop is fully functional. But it would be great if the problems mentioned above gets fixed.

Sincerely

No sound from speakers

Two days ago Windows gave a message like - "encountered a problem with AMD (something) & must close & restart".

After that there was no sound thru the speakers.  I tried all the HP & Windows Troubleshooters but no problems detected. I also did a System Restore from a 5 day old Windows System Backup.

I have a Logitech USB Headset\Microphone which I keep permanently connected. Previously I only ever used it for Skype phone calls. After a lot of experimenting I find that I can hear computer sound from all sources - programs, Netflix, YouTube, Internet videos, etc. - only thru the USB Headset with the following unusual & complicated setup ~

1. Set the Logitech USB Headset as the 'Default device' (in Control Panel\Sound). This now shows in the Volume Control on the Taskbar. Previously the Default Device was probably the 'AMD High Definition Audio Device', but I don't know for sure because I never needed to check it.

2. Keep the HDMI cable from computer to TV connected.

Note: the Sound output plug doesn't work - as tested on external speakers & ordinary plug-in headphones.

My conclusion is that the computer speakers hardware has failed, meaning a costly repair or even a new computer. Fortunately a few weeks ago I purchased a Care Pack Warranty extension.

Is my conclusion correct, or do others have comments?

I was playing a video game and the left speaker on my laptop just stopped working all of a sudden, I wasn't even sure it stopped working at first, but as i started turning around in the game i noticed the stereo being gone.  After about a week it turned on for a minute or so and stopped working again.  I tried messing with the balance in windows, nothing happens, i tried using AIMP and If i balance it to the left speaker the right one just becomes quieter. I'd appreciate any help, thank you.

Hi

I am looking for a new dj laptop and my eye falls on or the MSI Gaming computer or a HP ENVY Notebook 17-R183NB

but i cant find the spec for the audio chip,  it would be very use full if the audio supports 24 bit audio files or higher . so i can edit in soundforge without an external soundcard , standard onboard sound can't on cheaper models

Does anybody know

Thanks in advance

Greetings

Static boom sound sometimes when using external speakers/headphones

$

Hi,

I use exteral speakers via the headphone jack of my laptop [also sometimes headphones]  and I've noticed within the past few weeks or so that a lot of the time when I do things like load certain webpages or skim through videos on youtube, or when I'm on skype and hit backspace too many times causing that 'bing' sound, all of these kinds of actions cause this loud boom sound through the speakers.   The sound is just like what you would hear if you bumped the end of a needle hard on a record player.

I've updated all my audio/sound drivers and can't figure out how to stop that annoying sound from happening.  It doesn't happen when I'm only using the laptop speakers, so it's a problem with the audio jack on the side that I use.

I would greatly greatly appreciate any help someone could offer on this issue.

Thank you in advance.
