Microphone doesn't work- muted in beats audio control panel but does not un-mute

My computer doesn't think it has any audio devices installed. The speakers work, but in sounds it claims there are no audio devices installed. It says the same for the microphone but the microphone does not work or seem to be detected by any sound recording programs. Today I discovered in my beats audio panel that the mic is muted, but I cannot move the volume slider or click the mic to unmute it. I have tried updating the drivers and everything and checking my devices and nothing seems to work. I also used to have a stereo mix show up in my sounds settings but that has disappeared as well. It looks like this for recording and audio devices.
