I have an HP 17.3" Pavilion dv7 Notebook with Windows 7 Ultimate .Since my laptop was new whenever I did updates, I would lose the setting to export sound/video thru the HDMI output. I always had to back-date my computer to get that capability back. I finally figured out (because I am such a computer illiterate!) that if I had the HDMI cable plugged in then USUALLY that would not happen. Well I was on a website and about to click on something when I got a pop-up which I accidentally clicked on instead :-/..and I got a bad virus I handed my computer over to a friend who owed me a favor and he had to wipe my hard drive and re-install a copy of windows 7 Ultimate that I had (un-authorized).He also re-installed Windows media player,iTunes, and my photos and music. When I plugged in my hdmi cable...guess what...no setting to click on only now I don't know what to do to get it back. I looked on HP.com and it told me how to solve this problem by opening the control panel clicking the on button and typing sound in the box but it didn't work because I think that capability is totally wiped off my computer now...not just mal-functioning like before. I'm thinking I'll have to go to geek squad.$$$ Does anyone have a cheap or even free solution or a better alternative than the squad? Please email!-Thank you
