Hello.
I hope you can help me, because this issue is just killing me...
I own a HP Compaq CQ58-300SA with built-in speakers. It came with Win8 (64-bit), but one does not simply like this OS, so I downgraded to Win7 Ultimate (64-bit as well). And now I have a sound issue.
There is no sound. Well, it appears sometimes.
I turn on my computer and everything is fine. In sound manager I can see three devices: Speakers, S/PDIF digital audio and HDMI digital audio device. But not always, because there are times, when I power-on my computer and Speakers are marked as not connected. Note that I do not use external speakers. They are built-in. The S/PDIF works, but... it gives no sound. I can see that the volume bar is moving, but it does not generate sound. I tried plugging in headphones - no effect.
So I only have sound when Windows reads Speakers as connected. If it doesn't, it thinks that S/PDIF works, but it doesn't.
Realtek HD Audio Manager works only if Speakers are detected as plugged in. If else - it does not launch.
I think this may be a problem with PCI drivers, beacause in the device manager there is an exclamation mark sign next to "PCI Device" and it tells me that there are no drivers installed while I were looking EVERYWHERE for them and I've found none. I tried downloading looking for them with drivers-finding software, but either it was incapable of finding proper drivers or the downloaded and installed drivers caused BSoD.
There is one more device, which is marked as "unidentified device" and its manufacturer is "Elan SMBus".
Please help me. If you have any idea about what could be the cause of this problem, tell me.
If you need any further information, just ask. I will cooperate fully, because, as I've said before, this issue is killing me.
