Hi, I just bought a HP ENVY Phoenix Desktop 810-330qe CTO. The audio is not working. The back of the desktop tower does not work nor does the front part of the desktop tower (headphone jack).
Interestly, when I go onto beats audio, click on the header tab "listening experience" and then the footer tab "setup", there is a portion of the menu/program screen that shows the jack configuration. When I put the jack into the back of the desktop tower, the jack on the beats audio jack configuration highlights up, and when I disconnect it, it is no longer in highlight mode. I tried doing it for the front part of the desktop tower (headphones), and the same highlight thing happens. So the computer recognizes that something is being connected.
I also went to the playback devices/sound menu. While having youtube play music, it shows the green bars next to the speakers moving up an down, but still no sound. Same with the headphone part of this menu screen. Both have been put as default devices. Still no sound, but the green bars are moving up an down.
I bought the computer from Costco, and their technical support suggested unistalling and reinstalling the driver, but I didn't do that because I was at work and spent already too much time on it. So I had to end the conversation and try it later.
Later came around and I tried to update the drivers. Everything is the most up to date. So then I unistalled the drivers and reinstaled them by following another post on this forum. Basically, I downloaded the new driver, unistalled the current one, rebot, esc, f10, apply new drivers, etc... and nothing.
I then tried my wireless bluetooth headphones. I added the bluetooth device and the music was playing nicely. So sound works with bluetooth.
Just to clarify, I bought this computer a couple weeks ago. And it came with Windows 8.1 already on it. The only installs I have done were Google Chrome, Google Earth, Acrobat, Sophos Anti-Virus, and Microsoft Office.
Can some please help me? I feel like I've tried everything. I greatly appreciate any info/advice. Thanks in advance.
