Today I was using my headphone jack to output sound to my 2 home speakers in my room, something I have done before with no problems. The problem comes when I tried plugging in my headphones a while later and didn't hear any audio from the computer. My laptop shows that the headset mic is working and I can see that it is picking up audio, but sound from the laptop is not being sent to the headphones. none of these things are new. What could cause this and how can I fix it?
EDIT: Also, when I plug in my headphones I can hear the crackling in them that usually happens when I connect them, but again, no sound comes though.
EDIT 2: Fixed my own problem by turnignt he laptop off and letting it cool down. The CPU, which I think is located right next to the headphone jack, was getting pretty hot and I thought if I let it cool down it might help, and it did.
