I'm working on my HP Envy 17-j153cl with Windows 8. I'm recording audio. Have been using it for the last couple months with no problems.
In the last couple weeks, I have been getting clicking sounds when I record audio with a USB Microphone. I have used a Blue Snowball, then a Blue Yeti with the same result. The problem does not seem to be happening with the internal microphone.
Here's a link to a sound clip: Test Sound
I have tried unplugging everything from other USB ports, using each of the 4 ports by itself, unplugging the power cable, unplugging the battery, etc. I have used Audacity, Camtasia, and Google Hangouts and each recording had the same issue.
I have tested both microphones on other computers. There was no problem with those recordings.
I have tested sound recordings from this computer on other devices, and the clicking noise is present, so it is not the sound (sound from other sources on this computer is fine).
The sound is not as bad if I sit further back from the microphone, but is still there (I'm talking several feet away, not a couple of inches). The click does not happen during silence, at least not to a significant degree that I can notice.
Appreciate any help I can get, thank you
Joe Daniel
