Model : Hp Envy TS 15
OS : Win 8.1 64 bit
I have this problem where the in-built speakers work and no sound comes through the headphone jack . My external speakers/headphones work with my mobile so it is a laptop problem , moreover it's a software problem i believe as it works when i run ubuntu .
I was reading through some forums and i believe this to be the problem :

But i can't click it so it even if i connect by headphones the sound goes through the speakers .
I have tried doing this from an administrator account , still refuses to change the headphone to default device .
I had this yesterday and i did a system restore it worked .But then today i worked in ubuntu and switched back to windows and the same problem re-appeared i tried restore and undo but to no avail .
