Hi,
I'm using a HP Envy 15-j030eb, running Windows 8.1 x64.
Recently I've needed to use my notebook's audio jack to connect my speakers, but I'm not getting any sound. I've tried connecting two different types of headphones, with no audio comming through either. I don't really remember when I last used it, but I'm sure it worked at some point.
Without anything inserted into the jack I get normal proper sound through the internal speakers, connecting a television set via HDMI also works fine.
I've tried most solutions I could find online (setting default playback device, modifying bass and treble levels, doing a hard reset, reinstalling drivers...), but to no avail. Booting the notebook from a live Ubuntu usb drive also results in the same behavior; playing music though my internal speakers works fine, connecting headphones mutes everything. This leads me to believe it's not a Windows/driver issue, but a bios/firmware/hardware one.
Running HP Diagnotics (from usb boot) and executing the adio speaker test also doesn't send audio to my headphones and gives a failure id: gll3kv-6nm782-mfgjxg-20ek03. I haven't been able to decypher this id.
Any suggestions on how to proceed and get my audio jack working again please?
Regards,
