I own a Pavilion tx2000 running on Win7. I recently bought a new replacement keyboard and now when I start up I get repetative LOUD beeping (doesn't happen if I reconnect the old non-working keyboard). I've already been thru thousands of threads on this issue and have given up on solving that particular problem since everything is ok once Windows is loaded and the new keyboard works fine--it's just that incredibly loud constant beeping when I boot up or restart that's driving me insane.
No keys are 'stuck' (but admittedly, the backslash key acts like it is, but physically, it's fine).
So the ultimate question is: is there a way to disable the internal speaker short of taking the whole thing apart and physically disconnecting it? Yes, I'm aware that that the non-windows speaker beep is to alert for possible problems, but I'm willing to make that sacrifice to not have to hear that constant (and embarrassing when in public) noise when starting up.
I've even gone so far as opening the Device Manager and disabling "System Speaker" to no avail. I don't care about losing any sound if I can just stop that BEEPING w/o taking the whole notebook apart to do it.
thanks
