Periodically my audio jack stops working. Audio still works through the laptop's computers, but headphones or other speakers plugged into the audio jack will not work. It registers that something is plugged in, but nothing comes out.
After trying several things I discovered that if I shut down the laptop, remove the battery and the power cable, hold the power button for a few seconds, and then plug the power cable in and start up the laptop without the battery, then the audio jack works again.
So it seems like it might have something to do with static charge buildup or something. Can someone help me understand this problem and how I can prevent it?
