A few days ago when I woke up my HP Pavilion dv6 7010tx notebook (running windows 8 pro 64-bit) from sleep, I noticed that it had lost all sound. Audio tracks cannot be played on any media player, videos play intermittently without any audio, and there is no sound whatsoever irrespective of the program/application being run. Restarting the notebook doesn't fix this.
Also noteworthy is that pressing the f11 (mute) key doesn't do anything. The LED on the key remains off, the volume indication is shown on screen as it does while changing volume using f9 and f10 keys, however it doesn't show any mute/mute off indication as it should when functioning properly. I have troubleshooted the problem and I'm confident that the Sound Card is not an issue. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!
