I just bought a refurb HP ENVY 14-3010NR and immediately reinstalled to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
The windows update installed almost all of the updates except a couple but I was able to find those. My sound, even though it had been installed automatically, didn't work. So, I headed to the hp.com website and had the little program search my computer and went to the driver section but the ones provided will not work.
I have tried countless (well about 20 different ones) packages of IDT software (all from hp.com) and all of them return as "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The installation will now abort."
I have read every single forum on how to update this machine to the highest software.
I updated BIOS to latest version.
I updated chipset to latest version.
I updated all other drivers to latest versions.
I have tried to manually update audio devices with the .inf files that come with the IDT packages and neither of the devices in device manager will take the software. It comes back with a message saying "Windows cannot install this driver because it has a class restriction on it" I tried this on all of those software packages: SP60043, SP55971 and so on and so on. Also, I have tried to run all of these software packages in "compatability mode" as well as normal mode, always with the same results.
The only one that won't take is the IDT audio driver package that says "The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The installation will now abort."
Under sound, video and game controllers in device manager I have two sound devices and both were installed automatically through windows update.
They are called:
High Definition Audio Device (This one actually changes to Intel Display Audio when I installed my graphics drivers but when I uninstalled the driver to troubleshoot it always reverts back to High Definition Audio Device.
&
HP Wireless Audio Adapter
There are no unidentified devices in device manager.
I have spent probably a dozen hours now trying every single combination of solutions I can think of. I have formatted twice now. I have read 100's of forum threads. I am a high level tech user who has been building systems for 10+ years so I am very aware of most of the issues that arise during a full computer build and install.
If you have any critical tasks that I have not tried yet, please let me know.
