No Sound from NoteBook PC

For no apparent reason the volume icon on my taskbar showed an "x" on it & there is no sound.
In the process of attempted fixes my IDT Audio software is no longer installed. In Device Manager it did show the "yellow triangle" icon. This "yellow triangle" icon is also displayed on HP ATSC/Analog TV Tuner & Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus. Unable to re-install IDT software & drivers.
