I have an HP envy with win 8. Yesterday, i noticed that i lose sound after it goes to sleep and back on. BUT..not all type of sound. I can still play the windows .wav files from the sound control panel (Critical stop, asterix etc..). However when i play a movie file (.mp4) or when i go on youtube or any other site, there is no sound at all.
Today, i also noticed the sound just goes even with the computer on an open session. I was watching a movie, then typed an email, and when i returned to the movie, the sound was gone. But again, when i access the control panel, i can test the sounds (Stereo test) or the windows critical sound test.
I also noticed that when i press F11 (To mute the sound), the little icon on the tool bar, lower right, isnt crossed anymore.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing the sound drivers but it doesnt help. (High definition Audio Device and IDT high audio definition Codec).
I have no idea what to try next. HELP!
