Volume control issue, possibly beats audio related problem

Hi,

I recently got a HP Split x2 13-m-121sa, and I have had a few issues. This one I think is with Beats Audio.

Every volume control in every program does nothing. The only way that controlling the volume works is by changing the voume in the task bar or on my external speakers (when they are plugged in). On iTunes, on Chrome, WMP etc, the volume bar initially changes the volume, but then it creeps back up to full volume after a second.

I can only assume that this ridiculous issue, that I am really finding surprisingly irritating, is because of the Beats Audio enhancement software, which I'm assuming, given how appauling it makes everything sound, is basically a very harsh compressor/limiter, an EQ, and a poor quality stereowidener?

Would installing asio4all or an alternate driver help? I have previously tried uninstalling the IDT and using the generic one, but found this to be even worse, as it made my laptop speakers impossibly quiet.

This forum proved very useful with an earlier problem, so I'm hoping you will be able to help me again.

Thanks in advance.
