I have a Pavilion g7-1329wm (A7A29UA#ABA) which worked fine until a couple of days ago. The sound stopped working on the internal speakers but is fine on Bluetooth and headphones. I have reloaded the suggested IDT drivers for Windows 8 64 bit through the forum which didn't work, so found IDT drivers for Windows 8.1 64 bit (sp63421.exe) but still the same. I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit. I have uninstalled the drivers in device manager and used 'scan for hardware changes' but to no effect.
How do I test that the speakers themselves are defective if it is not a driver problem? I can always buy new speakers and installing them is no problem but I would like to test them first.
I also have a problem with my Envy x2 (C8C42PAR) speakers which work poorly so I use a bluetooth speaker which solves that problem but it wouild be good to have them work properly also. They did when new.
Is it time HP tried different speakers as I like HP generally and speakers are the only issues on both my devices?
