dot net 3.5
dot net 4.5
idt download from hp site.
Just a little background infomation.
I have had this problem off and on since i bought this computer and this problem was able to be solved very simple in the past before the advent of the new version of HP Assistant. This is how I fixed the problem in the past:
Step1 Download all microsoft updates...
Step2 Download all hp Updates...
Step3 *most important* Make sure hp was set to automatic update and to part of the anonymous data share program.
Step4 Cause the problem to be loged on the system by running multiple running sessions of Audio glitching causing the system to glitch but hopefully enough to log the problem till the hp assistant notices.
Step5 Log onto a highspeed internet and hit scan for updates and tune-up
Step6 Monitor network using perfom monitor to see if data is being transfererd over the network and what is being done to the system because it always claimed there were no updates after an unusually LONG scan for no updates. (30 - 40 minutes too long)
You know it is doing something right if mscore services are doing data writes and network says you are downloading something. Even if it claims afterwards there are no updates available.
Step 7 Turn off system, Keep doing it again until you stop it stops with the unusually long update scans.
Doing this 3 days in a row on always fixed the problem.
Noticed system changes...
Dot net was updated because Mscore services was doing a mad dash writing something.
IDT audio was updated too because I gained the ability to disable speakers and headphone and set Independent headphones to default which wouldn't work previously. (Had to fix a Singularity issue where sound came from speaker and not headphones)
1 yr later.....
Hard drive breakage on a 1TB drive from a 1 ft fall.
Try everything to fix problem on TB drive; up to and including putting on a new windows on system and only backing up
Swsetup.
Sound problem comes back when new system is installed but hp trick still works. But hard drive slowed to 1/16 speed due to 1 ft fall.
2 months later hp come out with new version of hp assistant.
Some time after that I finally give up on finding a way to fix the hard drive and update to a Sata drive.
Sata drive works wonders but the sound problem is back and the hp assistant trick doen't seem to work anymore with the new version of hp assistant.
Problem assessment:
Sound problem does not happen until dot net (either version 3.5 or 4.0) is added to the system (necessary for gaming)
The sound problem can be bypassed by using a player like VLC or KMP which uses its own sound drivers.
(tried to force games to run under ffdshow after i found that out only to find out just how possessive Microsoft 7 is about not having their programs use ffdshow).
Problem is caused by a program double checking sound writes due to a latency which then causes delays in the CPU processes causing all CPU processes to run at 4x rate(running on all chips similarly maybe?).
Problem is not present on mp3 sound driver. But is present on WAV and WMV and MP4.
Things Ive tried: Briefly switched to Windows XP 64 to see if it was any better.
Sound worked fine even with the Dot net added, however HP does not have a video driver for XP 64 for this computer; only windows 7 (Heh, what if i wanted to upgrade to Windows 8 :P)
and intel gave me the (we only make drivers for specific systems go get the driver from hp speach)
Therefore I cant use windows xp 64 for gaming...
Tried deleting certain sound drivers once seemed to work for borderlands2 but not Singularity.
Clean install since then.
Any Ideas?
