3115m notebook audio stutter and lag

HP 3115m notebook, Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (SSD, no hard disc drive)--it is the pro version of the dm1z.  This notebook has Beats Audio and the audio stutters, buzzes and lags in playing mp3 files and tracks created in Band in Box music editing software.  This subject has been posted for other HP laptops, and I've read many of them, but still can't solve the problem.

The problem is intermittent and has no pattern or cause I can see--sometimes it disappears almost completely for a time and then reappears unexpectedly.  Some posters attribute it to the Power Assistance utility or program.  When I Iook at the resource monitor in the Task Manager I do see spikes in CPU usage that may correspond to instances of stutter and this suggests the problem lies with the Power Assistant.  If the Power Assistance manager is a utility I don't know how to find it.  If it is a program it does not appear in my uninstall program list.

Some attribute the problem to the wireless card or to the Mobile Protection driver (shouldn't be an issue for SSD?).  Some say it's the IDT audio driver, which this notebook has, and suggest it be replaced, but I don't know how.  Part of my problem, besides being sort of computer illiterate, is that this is just a very small notebook (11.6" screen, no DVD drive) and doesn't seem to correspond to the instructions for other HP laptop models that have been posted here for audio stutter.  If for example the problem is a utility I don't know how to find and delete utilities on this notebook.

This is an annoying problem. Any help is appreciated,  Thanks.
