audiodg.exe causes high CPU usage on my new HP Envy

Hi All,

I have recently got a new HP notebook (HP Envy Touchsmart 14-k019tx) which uses Windows 8 as my os. It's a new laptop with little software being installed. Whenever I tried to play games (e.g. dota2), my screen will stutter, there will be some weird sounds coming out, and my game will crash. After which, Norton Internet Security will notify me saying audiodg.exe is taking up high CPU usage.

I have looked around for solutions regarding this. From what I have learnt, most would advise to disable all audio enhancements as the solution via:

right click sound icon -> playback devices -> Select device -> properties -> go to enhancement tab -> disable all enhancements

However, I believe this only applies to Windows 7. There are no Enhancement tabs for Windows 8 and I can't seem to find solutions to tackle this issue on Windows 8.

I have updated all my audio and video card drivers since.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers!
