Dear HP Support.
Earlier this year i became the 'happy' owner of a brand new laptop with outstanding specs and a design to die for. Most of the experience has been fairly acceptable. The fingerprint scanner died on me once, but I was able to bring it back via help from this forum.
However, an ongoing problem, which is hardly noticable when using the laptop speakers, is the fluctuating sound. This didn't become clear to me until i fired up Propellerhead's Reason (My DAW of choice). I'm not a pro musician and I don't know much about sound and technique, but I know this much; It is NOT as it should be.
On my earlier computer systems I would be able to fix the fluctuating sound by turning off "Loudness Equalization" in the sound card properties, this tab is nowhere to be found on my Envy box.
Before I forget it, my machine is an HP Envy 15 j035eo.
So after not having the creative drive that is needed to create music for the longest while I finally got some will powered gathered, and the sounds went absolutely EVERYWHERE! low sounds were boosted to the sky and the higher volumed sounds got squattered by sudden drops of sound level. I was ready to kill someone! However I didn't.
A couple of days later (today), I decided to find a fix for this. I started off with google and found a couple of posts regarding the problem all dating back to a couple of years back. So I found this forum, browsed around for a while and amongst other sollutions/workarounds i found this http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/675228-fix-workaround-beats-audio-volume-problem-leveling-random-etc-13.html ...but none of the fixes i tried worked.
No one seems to have exactly the same machine as mine, and many of the posts seem outdated (2011, 2012-ish)
My model# is up there, but i'll type it again here: HP Envy 15 j035eo
I have installed the latest audio drivers from HP's driver page; 6.10.6454.0
I did not touch the BIOS drivers as someone mentioned, because I always get scared when dealing with the BIOS, and I decided i needed personal help before trying to go any further on this problem.
This is where I am now.
AaronDude, who was the most active nick in one of the threads i read through said he had to buy a Mac before the problem was fixed. Please don't push me this far, HP. PLEASE!
It's 2014, many of these issues date way back, there should be an official fix by now! Alright, so before I repeat myself anymore, I'll end it here and leave the rest to the people who are paid to solve issues like these!
I'm impatiently looking forward to hearing from you,
Hans.
