Hello friends! :manhappy:
I'm new to the forum, and I'm here because everything else failed to solve my problem.
My Compaq Presario 2195US has a RAM upgrade to 1GB in total and I installed Win7 on it. In the adaption of the drivers, everything goes fine with compatibility adjustments and new driver downloads for my hardware, but the audio and video drivers doesn't exist for win7 - now I will explain the audio problem:
I installed the audio driver in XP compatibility mode and the driver installed fine (without compatibility adjustment the setup doesn't identify the sound card) and the manual installation pointing the driver through the device manager worked too. When everything seems fine, when some audio is played, while the audio is playing, earlier or later the computer freezes absolutely and repeat the short sound of the moment of the freezing indefinitely. The sound become something like tun-tun-tun-tun-tun-tun-tun-tun-tun with the screen freezed and only a reboot can be done - mouse doesn't move and ctrl-alt-del is the same of nothing.
I'm using the computer with the sound card disabled, but I need to put it to work. The problem seems to be something small but I don't have knowledge to edit my sound driver to solve it. In some of these freezes, I saw that when I'm on the windows media player window and clicked on one folder on a window behind of it, the computer freezed, but it was just one observation. The freezes are independant from the application that I'm using. The use of the sound card on any way can freeze the computer. I need hard help here, and hope that someone have a try to solve it. Thank you in advance. :smileywink:
