I have a HP Pavilion dv6 1230us with an Optiarc DVD RW AD7516S cdrom drive running Windows 7. Yesterday, in the middle of burning a new CD with pictures from my laptop, the drive seemed to stall out. The Windows Explorer screen showed the drive, and intermittently, the arrow/drive icon would appear as the drive attempted to run. I clicked on the DVD drive icon and immediately got a "Libraries (Not Responding)" grayed out screen. I pushed the device button to remove the CD and pulled out the partially completed CD. I put it back in and it wouldn't register or read. I inserted another CD with pictures on it, and the system ruined that CD--it won't read now.
I rebooted the laptop, tried to insert another CD, and it just spins--it will not register the CD and when I click on the DVD icon, I get the same message of "Libraries (Not Responding)".
Have I corrupted a driver or is the drive itself in need or repair or replacement?
