Model: HP Pavilion dv6t-7000 Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC
Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit
Error message: None
Previous changes:
- Changed partition file system to FAT32 from within Ubuntu setup unintentionally
- Reset entire computer to factory defaults
This has been a somewhat frustrating problem that I will not be able to live with - I need this fixed or I will hate using my laptop. I was attempting to install Ubuntu in a separate partition, but its partitioning tools weren't working so well... so I did 'something' (I'm not totally sure what) to the hard drive partition that my Windows 7 OS was installed on. I thought I reverted the changes, the the repair manager popped up when I booted to Windows.
That's when I noticed the problem. After finishing, the first thing I heard was a very loud *POP* from my laptop's speakers, followed by the Windows startup sound. Subsequently, the pop occured before playing any sounds after the computer had not played any sounds for a certain amount of time. In addition to the pop, the speakers also produce a fainter crackling noise when nothing should be playing.
I have tried several audio drivers, and, as I mentioned, even reset my entire computer to factory defaults, but the problem persists. It seems like a driver issue, but I can't seem to find the right one.
On top of this, when I plug in headphones, no sound comes out.
I hope this is enough information. If you need to know anything else, please indicate to me so that I can solve this problem. Thanks!
