HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC - No sound when headphones plugged in

Hi-

I bought a brand new HP ENVY 17 Notebook PC last month.

Last week I tried to use my headphones for the first time since purchasing it and I couldnt get any sound to play through the headphones.

I have checked that the headphones work (in my old laptop and my iphone and ipod) and have also used various other headphones to check compatibility. No headphones work.

Sound plays fine out of the speakers, the issue is only when my headphones are plugged into the headphone jack, there is no sound. I have tried to "test" through the volume control options which only makes the sound play out of the speakers - even when my headphones are plugged in.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
