Hi, I bought my HP 250 G4 Notebook PC5 last month. It seems to work fine but the speakers sound throbbing and annoying. I also have en external speaker but it sounds quite ok. I checked the sound, the speakers and the drivers but the speakers are still bad.  What is the problem, what should I do?

Laptop saying No audio output device is installed

My Hp Pavilion x2Detachable, model number: P0H64EA#ABU went into recovery mode and after I managed to recover it all it has done is said that "No audio output device is installed" and I am unable to play any audio. When trying to troubleshoot it tells me a driver is missing and the problem is now resolved but I am still unable to play audio. I have tried so many things and nothing seems to fix my problem.

Please can someone help me?

Spectre x360 mute light wont come on after update

After updating to Windows 10 anniversary edition, my sound driver updated as well. With that update my led light will no longer come on when I press the mute button. I know its fairly trivial but I just bought this laptop and already got used to it as well so it's quite irritating to have something not working as intended already. Alas it is just a software issue so I hope it can be fixed. I've read multiple forums that says its related to the sound drivers. However I've downloaded and tried all 3 drivers on HP's website and the led light works for none. What other options am I left with?

Hi,

A friend of mine has an hp HP Pavilion 15-au081nb but has some troubles with the audio coming out of the speakers.

The sound is normal at first but after a few seconds the sound lowers and dispears. this problem does not occur when using a headset. i have no clue what the problem should be.

As far as i know this issue has always been there.

i have already reinstalled the driver with the latest version i could find on the hp support page for this device and installed all the windows updates.

I hope a solution can be found.

I have an HP Envy (non-touch) quad core 15 inch laptop (with no CD drive). For some unknown reason Beats audio has completely dissappeared from my laptop. It's nowhere. I haven't done anything to it. I think windows 10 might have updated, but beats is gone and now my laptop sounds tinny. Please help.

HP Evny speaker/headphone issue

I have made a post on this before but there have been some changes to the machine since then.

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Envy-Audio-issue/m-p/5259016#M69303

So here is my problem. Sometimes the audio will work fine, during these times I am happy with it.

When playing audio over the main speakers with nothing in the audio jack, it will think there is something in the audio jack and route the audio there, so I cant hear anything. I can tell this is happening because the system volume control will now display the headphone level. It will also flicker between the speakers and headphone audio levels which is the only reason I noticed this.

When the headphones are in, they tend to work more often than the main speaker. However it will also think that the headphones are not plugged in and switch back to the main speakers.

Its common for it to switch between states rapidly and repeatedly for several seconds.

The problem should not be related to the headphones I am using. I use 3 different pairs, all of which use the headphone jack and not USB (never tried usb or bluetooth audio actually).

For some reason touching the case seems to matter. I dont know if its in my head or something, but oftend putting a little tension on the front of the case seems to help, like putting a dice under the left or right front rubber foot.

So I have looked around and tried many solutions.

  • I have tried upgrading to windows 10, problem remained
  • I have reinstalled the OS completely (not repaired or reverted)
  • I have updated the driver and rebooted
  • I have updated HP PC Hardware Diagnostics and run the audio, when I tested the headphones it had problems because it kept asking me to insert the headphones, but they already were
  • Recently my screen was damaged to I took it in for repair and since it was going to be gone I asked them to replace the audio jack in case there was something about the jack itself. I am told that the jack was replaced but have no proof of it actually having been done, and the problem remains,
  • I have used troubleshooting - audio playback, found no issues.
  • I have played around with every setting in the sound panel options.
  • In the past I have played around with the beats audio control panel but found no solutions there.
  • I have taken it in for repair for this specific issue, but as it doesnt always happen, during their testing they cant find an issue.

After having had this issue for 2+ years I would like to get it fixed. I am at a loss for what else to check and I am just tired of it.

Hi, I recently updated my laptop and ever since the update my volume control bar has been stuck on my screen. Everytime I click on it it goes from 0 to 100. It is stuck on 100. The volume keys on my laptop are not working and I have tried to go into my settings and manually turning my volume off and it doesnt work it is stuck at 100. Also, I have done a refresh and tried uninstalling the microphone and stuff and nothing has worked. Thanks!

Kaby Lake Spectre x360 distorted audio from speakers

I'm having trouble with super scratchy/distorted audio on the newest (Oct 2016, 7th gen i7) Spectre x360 (X7V22UA) and am wondering if this is just inherent to the design or if my machine has a hardware problem.

When my machine was brand new out of the box, it sounded like the speakers were blown out when playing certain frequencies such as the Windows 10 notification tone. I did the standard troubleshooting, a HP representative asked me to send it in for repair, allegedly the speakers were replaced, but the replaced unit is just as bad.

When audio plays at even modest volumes (right now I have it at 36/100), I can feel the laptop vibrating and rattling.

I know this is a laptop and I'm not expecting the world's greatest sound, but the distortion is really annoying. Is this just inherent to the new x360s or am I just unlucky with my RMA? I've tried updating drivers, BIOS, etc. and the problem persists. Headphones are fine. It's definitely the external speakers on this laptop that are vibrating around.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Right click on sound in system tray
  2. Choose "Playback devices"
  3. Choose the only option, "Realtek High Definition Audio (SST)"
  4. Click "Configure"
  5. Click the "Test" button that plays three chimes in each speaker.
  6. Listen to it rattle.

Is this happening to anyone else? Seems like it's identical to the symptoms of this problem, but that's for an older model of the x360 and this new model has different hardware. Also, the old problem was never resolved.

Sound not working on Windows (dual linux install)

Hello,

This is a really weird mind boggling problem I've got. I recently installed Linux (Fedora 24) on a seperate partion as a dual boot. Now suddenly, my sound doesn't work neither on Fedora or Windows.

It's so weird too as Windows shows no indication of problems. Drivers are all fine/up to date, the volume is working, the sound device is already on default (which is the only one available) and I can see the 'green bars' going up and down whenever I play a youtube video or music. However, this sound is not actually physically coming through the speakers or even the headphones.

I understand Linux has some sound problems, but how on earth can that effect Windows which is on a completely seperate partition all together? How is this possible? Was something in the bios somehow changed? Any ideas on how I can wrap my head around this and find a solution (without completely rebuilding my laptop from scratch) would be really appreciated.

Sound not working on Linux is something I can carry on with, but I really need it on my Windows OS.

I have a pavilion 15-r132wm that has terrible speakers. They sounded terrible from day 1. I am wondering if I can upgrade to better quality speakers. Maybe from a different model with same configuration?

Bass Not Working in Beats Audio!

Hi,

I recently installed a driver to reinstall beats audio and improve the sound quality on my laptop, and it was working fine up until just recently.

Now, the audio sounds tinny with no bass to speak of. I was wondering if there was a fix for this, and if it would be easier to just delete the beats audio codec and replace it with the generic one instead? I am not too computer savvy, so I tried to the best of my ability to resolve it by turning beats audio on and off, enabling/disabling the audio codec, but that has not done any good. Would someone be able to help me out?

My computer also updated recently to OS build 14393.447

Thanks!

i have a Pavilion and when watching videos or listening to music the volume will go away or turn way down but the actual volume settings do not change just the volume its self.  I have tried reinstalling the drivers and ran all the test.  I have also shut off my mic and told it to do nothing in the auto volume settings yet it still randomly decides to turn its self down.  I have spend hours with tech support doing the same things over and over and even rebooted my entire system.  I have only had this HP for a month.  never had a problem in 7 years with my old hp and this one is about to go in the trash.

Windows 8.1 IDT High Definition Audio (No sound)

I experience a problem with the sound on my laptop for several days and after numerous tries, it still doesn't work.

On the task bar, I have a red cross on the volume icon. And with a right click on the volume icon, I don't have internal speakers anymore, just some useless MKM-S-Speaker (which doesn't work). Even if I plug some headset, no sound is coming out.

I check on the BIOS and Audio is turned on, so it shouldn't be the problem.

I tried also to reinstall the IDT High Definition driver but it couldn't end as it indicates that there is a problem.

I also tried to restore windows in a previous time (10 days ago) but the problem remains.

Actually, I don't really know what is the next step. Is my audio card?

Beats Audion mouse pad not working less than 2 years old!

I brought my son a beats audio laptop as a Christmas gift on 09/11/14 (not used until 25/12/14) from PC World @ £229. The touch mouse pad has stopped working, my son is 12 and only uses this for homework so its minimal use.  I purchased the laptop by credit card.  Can you please advise what you can do as this is less than two years use. PC World are out of 12 month warranty. I will discuss this with my credit card company too. This is no longer fit for purpose which I wouldn't expect from HP

No audio from HDMI output

I have Windows 10 64-bit  (not suported I know )  but also Windows 7 64-bit (different partitions).

Just obtained secondhand GNR TS702 monitor https://www.manualslib.com/manual/271588/Gnr-Ts702.html . It is plug and play no drivers.

First question then is what graphics drivers should I have ? There are three listed at http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-g6-1300-notebook-pc-series/5186808/model/5212268#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2

AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver     9.0.0.0    299.2 MB    Oct 18, 2012

AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver     8.882.2.0 Rev.    339.0 MB    Oct 24, 2011

and Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver. Does this depend on the processor ? It is Intel B960.

Second question, should I expect system audio to come out of the HDMI  port and work with the speakers on the monitor?  Windows Sound sees an HDMI playback device but nothing connected to it, even when a DVD-VI cable from the monitor is connected to that port. Do I need and special drivers for HDMI audio, if I happen not to have a monitor that supports it, or is that HDMI port video only?

Thanks  a lot.

No Sound - HP ENVY 15-j171nr Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

Hello,

When I start up my Notebook sometimes it will recognize the sound card and sometimes the Speaker Icon at the bottom of the screen will show a RED "X" with a description saying " No Audio Output Device is installed"

I have tried to troubleshoot sound problems but that didn't help with anything

Here's some troubleshooting I tried but didnt work:

  • Uninstalling audio driver and replacing it with the HD Audio Driver
  • Downloading & Reinstalling Audio Driver from the HP website
  • Trying to Start Audio Services

I really hope you can help with this issue, thank you very much.
